NEW YORK, NY, November 13, 2017 -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Kalyan "Kal" Das, LLM, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Das celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Having served as partner and head of the Global Bank and Institutional Finance and Restructuring Practice Group at Seward & Kissel LLP since 1993, Mr. Das has been affiliated with his firm since being recruited as an associate attorney in 1990. Focusing primarily in the areas of structured finance, asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities transactions, domestic and international banking transactions, project finance, capital markets, distressed debt trading, second lien financing, institutional finance and private placements, Mr. Das represents numerous domestic and international banks as well as other institutions in all types of domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

Maintaining offices in New York, NY, and London, England, Mr. Das spends the majority of his time in New York. He is also involved in representing trustees, administrative agents, servicers and master servicers, trust administrators, collateral agents, hedge fund administrators and other service providers in asset-backed and mortgage-backed transactions, corporate finance transactions, project finance transactions and municipal finance transactions. Furthermore, he represents trustees, servicers, administrative agents, and bondholders in restructuring/workouts involving asset-backed and mortgage-backed transactions and corporate bankruptcies. During his tenure, Mr. Das has also been known to conduct numerous in-house training seminars for banks and financial institutions, and he has been an editor for the publication "Company Law."

Seward & Kissel was first founded in 1890 and has since become recognized as a leading U.S. law firm with an international reputation. With locations in New York City, Washington, D.C., and London, England, the practice primarily focuses on corporate and litigation work for clients seeking legal expertise in the financial services, corporate finance, and capital markets areas.

Admitted to the Bar of England and Wales, Australia, India, and the New York Bar Association, Mr. Das earned a Barrister-at-Law at The Lincoln's Inn in 1979 and an LLM at New York University in 1989. He worked for two different firms throughout New York City before going to work for Seward & Kissel LLP. He is a fellow, former annual meeting co-chair, and former trustee of the American College of Investment Counsel as well as a longtime member of numerous professional relative organizations, including the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the American Arbitration Association, where he serves as a panel member.

Highly regarded for his work, Mr. Das was named to New York Super Lawyers numerous times over the past decade, Banking and Finance Law Firm of the Year in New York for 2016 and 2017 for his work by Global Law Experts, and was a large tier winner of Corporate International Magazine's Legal Award for Project Finance Law Firm of the Year in 2013 and 2014 in New York. He also received numerous national and international awards, and received a Finance Monthly Deal Maker of the Year Award in 2014. He's also been consistently named to Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the World.
Married with two children, Mr. Das has also been known to serve on the board of directors for NYU School of Law. He also served as a life vice president of International Students House in London, and is currently the president of Friends of International Students House, Inc.
