In September 2011, Silvergate Media, a new company backed by former Chorion chairman Lord Waheed Alli, acquired the rights owned by UK-based Chorion to The World of Beatrix Potter and The Octonauts. These were the first assets to be sold by the media rights business Chorion following the decision by its senior bankers to break up the business. Terms of this transaction were not disclosed. A Seward & Kissel team led by partners James Abbott and Anne Patin and counsel Nick Katsanos, and including associates Kristin Switzer and Benay Josselson, represented Lord Alli and Silvergate Media with respect to the U.S. aspects of this transaction.
