The selection of Seward & Kissel for the prestigious award marked the first time a firm not headquartered in London was selected for this award. “This award recognizes our work in all areas of shipping finance law, and our ability to offer the full range of services to the shipping industry” said Larry Rutkowski, head of the Firm’s Maritime Finance Practice Group, announcing the award in an office e-mail thanking the entire team for its efforts. Senior members of the team include Hadley Roe, Gary Wolfe, Derick Betts, Bruce Paulsen, Robert Lustrin and Clay Cook. The LSE Awards are widely regarded as the industry benchmark. At the awards ceremony, it was noted that the independent judges’ panel found that Seward & Kissel has a “high level of commitment to shipping” and an “unsurpassable” practice in the IPO market. As noted by Gary Wolfe, who heads up the firm’s IPO and capital markets practice, “The last several years have seen explosive growth in shipping’s access to the capital markets and we are proud to have helped facilitate this growth.”
