Represented the management team of Emerging Sovereign Group (“ESG”), a New York-based registered investment adviser with approximately $3.5 billion in assets under management, in connection with its reacquisition of the 55% equity stake it previously sold to the Carlyle Group in 2011.
Seward & Kissel client, Emerging Sovereign Group (“ESG”), a New York-based registered investment adviser, reacquired the 55% equity stake it previously sold to the Carlyle Group in 2011. ESG has approximately $3.5 billion in assets under management, up from $1.25 billion when Carlyle acquired its controlling stake in 2011. Based in New York, ESG was established in 2002 with an initial investment from Julian H. Robertson through Tiger Management. In connection with the transaction, Tiger will maintain its ownership interest in ESG, and Carlyle will continue to share in a portion of ESG’s profits for a limited period of time.
