Michael Stachiw is an associate in the Investment Management Group. Michael’s practice focuses on fund formation, strategic advice and regulatory issues. He represents managers of private equity funds, commodity pools and hedge funds on their formation, structuring and terms. He also has experience structuring co-investment vehicles, separately managed accounts and funds-of-one. Michael advises on side letters, seed capital agreements and manager acquisitions. Michael frequently counsels investment managers on regulatory examinations and compliance issues, including registration requirements and the development of comprehensive compliance programs. Additionally, he focuses on regulatory filings required under Sections 13 and 16 of the Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, including potential short-swing profit issues. Michael also advises clients and drafts agreements with respect to general legal and corporate matters, including employee agreements, expert network agreements, confidentiality agreements and technology services agreements.

He received a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Missouri. While at New York University School of Law, Michael served as Editor-in-Chief of the NYU Journal of Law & Liberty and won the Flora S. and Jacob L. Newman Prize.
