Required Notice of Amended Sick Leave Benefits in New York City

October 30, 2020

As we previously reported, the New York City Council amended the New York City Earned Safe and Sick Time Act (the “ESSTA”) to require that employers provide employees a written notice of their rights under the amended ESSTA on or before October 30, 2020.

On October 29, 2020, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection published its updated notice of rights, linked here. Employers that have employees working in New York City must provide this notice to current employees, post the notice in a conspicuous and accessible area in the workplace (such as on an online employee portal), and provide this notice to new employees upon hiring.
