Seward & Kissel successfully represented Louis Dreyfus Corporation in a series of actions brought in connection with the Enron bankruptcy, seeking to recapture for the bankruptcy estate certain settlement payments made to Louis Dreyfus Corporation and its affiliates under literally hundreds of derivative contracts including commodities futures, swaps, forwards, even weather trading contracts. The matters were successfully negotiated by Bruce Paulsen before a court-appointed mediator (a sitting United States bankruptcy judge) and settled in 2007.
