In September 2015, Concept Capital Markets, LLC, a leading independent provider of prime brokerage services, was sold to Cowen Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:COWN), a diversified financial services firm with offices worldwide that, together with its consolidated subsidiaries, provides alternative asset management, investment banking, research, and sales and trading services. Concept Capital provides a comprehensive suite of brokerage and related services to traditional and alternative investment managers, and is registered as a broker dealer and investment adviser with the SEC and is a member of FINRA, NFA, and SIP. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. A Seward & Kissel team led by counsel Nick Katsanos and partners Jack Rigney, Jonathan Brose and Anne Patin, and including associate Dora Pulido and Alexander Maro, represented Concept Capital in this transaction.
