Partner Mark Hyland and Seward & Kissel are mentioned in the Big Suits section of the April edition of American Lawyer for representation of Wells Fargo Bank in the BankAtlantic Bancorp Litigation. The Firm successfully represented plaintiff Wells Fargo in an action to permanently enjoin BankAtlantic Bancorp. Inc. from closing on a planned sale of $2.1 billion in loans and $3.3 billion in deposits to BB&T Corporation, as the deal would breach BankAtlantic’s contractual guarantees with BankAtlantic’s investors and fundamentally change the nature of the holding company’s operations.
