On October 29, 2020, Counsel David E. Stutzman, as Chair of the Estate & Gift Taxation Committee of the New York City Bar Association, hosted the 2020 Mortimer H. Hess Memorial Lecture.

October 29, 2020

The annual lecture series, sponsored by the Committee since the late 1960s, is made possible through a generous grant from the family of the late tax lawyer Mortimer H. Hess and his former partners. The subjects of the lectures are related to the law of trusts, estates, and taxation, subjects on which Mr. Hess was an acknowledged authority.  This year, the Committee invited Mitchell M. Gans, Rivkin Radler Distinguished Professor in Taxation at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, to deliver an address on “Progressive Taxation and a Conservative Supreme Court (and Related Issues).”  A video recording of the lecture can be found here.
