November 22, 2023

Kristen A. Curatolo, partner and co-head of the firm’s Private Clients/Trust and Estates Group, has been elected as a Fellow to The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Each year, Fellows are elected to the ACTEC based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skills, and substantial contributions to the field of trusts & estates law. ACTEC is a national, exclusive organization of lawyers and law professors peer-elected to membership. ACTEC Fellows must have no less than 10 years of experience in the active practice of probate and trust law or estate planning, and members are comprised of the best and brightest trust and estate lawyers in the country who have made substantial contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching, and participating in bar activities.

Recognized by Chambers and Partners as one of New York’s leading lawyers on private wealth issues, Kristen, who joined Seward & Kissel in July, concentrates her practice on wealth transfer planning and administration. Her clients include multiple generations of ultra-high-net-worth families, private equity fund principals, public figures, and leaders in the financial industry. She also regularly advises on the formation of public charities, private foundations, and other non-profits; grant-making; and fiduciary duties, governance matters, and compliance issues for boards of directors.

In addition to this recent election to ACTEC, Kristen was named to the 2024 Best Lawyers: One To Watch® list and serves as an Affiliate Member of the New York City Bar Estate & Gift Taxation Committee. She also regularly writes and speaks on estate planning topics, including “Celebrity Estate Planning: Misfires of the Rich and Famous VI” in the November/December 2023 issue of Probate & Property and “Strategies to Mitigate the ‘Burn’ of Grantor Trust Status” in the May 2023 issue of the Bloomberg Tax Management Estates, Gifts, and Trusts Journal.
