Seward & Kissel Represents Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank in Connection with its Business Alliance with Energy Capital Partners

Seward & Kissel LLP represented Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, in connection with its business alliance with Energy Capital Partners (ECP), a US based private equity infrastructure manager. Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank will also (i) make a non-voting investment in an affiliate of Energy Capital Partners acting as a holding entity that consolidates ECP’s asset management business and (ii) invest in a flagship fund managed by ECP.

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank is a consolidated subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings, Inc. Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank provides an assortment of financial solutions and manages a broad spectrum of financial products across its global branches.

Established in 2005, Energy Capital Partners is a U.S.-based private equity infrastructure manager. ECP specializes in the electrical power, energy, and environmental infrastructure sectors, and is one of the largest owners in the U.S. in terms of aggregate power generation and renewable energy capacity held through its portfolio investment companies.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, through its strategic partnership with ECP, aims to expand and enhance solutions to support domestic corporate clients’ energy transitions by leveraging the expertise and investment know-how in the electrical power, energy, and environmental infrastructure sectors that ECP has cultivated in the U.S.
