Sagar Patel is counsel in the Global Finance & Restructuring Practice.
Sagar has extensive experience representing corporate trustees, collateral administrators, back-up servicers, issuing and paying agents, separate trustees, collateral agents, administrative agents, custodians and escrow agents, as well as other service providers, in various financing transactions, including collateralized loan obligations, collateral debt obligations, secured and unsecured loan financings, and asset-backed transactions. Sagar’s practice includes a wide variety of asset classes, including marketplace loans, consumer and small business loans, rental car receivables, residential and commercial mortgages, cell tower receivables and credit card receivables.
Sagar is experienced in warehousing transactions, refinancings and optional redemptions involving collateralized loan obligations. He advises clients in the bankruptcy and restructuring of borrowers, issuers and other transaction parties, and in the repurchase and enforcement actions related to mortgage-backed securitization transactions. He has substantial experience advising trustees in the liquidation of collateral in debt facilities in connection with default scenarios, investor-directed actions and the exercise of remedies. He has also represented banks and other financial institutions in par and distressed secondary market transactions.
Sagar has supported the firm’s pro bono efforts. He has obtained cancellation of removal for a low-income individual in immigration court, and has volunteered for a non-partisan, national call center dedicated to ensuring that all citizens can exercise their right to vote.
He received a B.A. from Rutgers University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He was an editor for the Fordham Law Moot Court Team and a member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal.
