Prominent Securities Enforcement and Regulatory Lawyer Craig Warkol Joins Seward & Kissel as Litigation & Investigations Group Chair

March 17, 2026

Seward & Kissel LLP announced today that Craig Warkol has joined the Firm as chair of its Litigation & Investigations Group in New York.

Warkol has extensive experience assisting private capital clients with a broad range of securities-related enforcement and compliance issues. He routinely represents clients at all stages of their most significant investigations and white-collar criminal matters. In addition, Warkol advises clients on issues related to insider trading, market manipulation, and regulatory risks associated with new products and emerging technology, such as digital assets, artificial intelligence, alternative data, electronic communications, and prediction markets.

“We are thrilled to welcome Craig to our Firm,” said Daniel Bresler, managing partner of Seward & Kissel. “His background and approach to client service align with our commitment to delivering commercially focused solutions to our clients.”

Warkol has served both as a former enforcement attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and as a Special Assistant in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York, where he prosecuted numerous complex and high-profile securities fraud, accounting fraud, and insider trading cases. Warkol is joining Seward & Kissel from Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP (now McDermott Will & Schulte) where he was the Chair of SRZ’s Litigation Department, and most recently, Co-Head of Investment Management Regulatory and Enforcement.

“I am excited to join Seward & Kissel and to work alongside a team that is widely recognized as a leader in advising investment managers and financial institutions,” said Warkol. “The Firm’s deep bench, collaborative culture, and longstanding focus on investment management make it an ideal partner to help clients navigate complex regulatory, enforcement, and compliance challenges, particularly as the risk landscape continues to evolve.”

He received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

Warkol’s arrival to Seward & Kissel builds on the firm’s strong start to 2026, marked by the arrivals of John Benson and Christopher Belisle, who rejoined Susanne Burstein from Watson Farley & Williams, in the Firm’s Maritime and Transportation practice, and a transformative 2025 that included the arrival of eight lateral partners across key practice areas, including Randall Adams and Mark Garibyan, who previously worked with Warkol at SRZ.
