Seward & Kissel Announces the Launch of the Client Management System

March 7, 2016

At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, Seward & Kissel LLP will launch its new Client Management System (“CMS”) that will replace the Hedge Fund Management System (“HFMS”).

The CMS is a web-based application specifically designed for our clients to enhance the services provided to you by our firm.

Currently, the HFMS provides three areas of service. These areas include: (1) facilitating your communication with the attorneys and legal assistants on your Seward & Kissel team, (2) providing access to memoranda and regulatory alerts for private investment funds and investment advisers, and, (3) most importantly, sending monthly automatic email reminders, enabling you to report sales information for each of your funds, so that we may help ensure that Federal Form D and State blue sky notices are filed in a timely fashion.

The CMS will continue to provide these services to our clients, but on a more customized, enhanced, and expanded platform. There are several new features that will provide you with a wealth of information regarding your funds in a more interactive atmosphere.

The user name and password assigned to you for the HFMS can be used in the CMS. You may access the CMS online at https://cms.www.sewkis.com.

PLEASE NOTE: THE HFMS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AFTER 4:00PM ON TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2016. THE CMS WILL GO LIVE BEGINNING 9:00AM ON THURSDAY, MARCH 17, 2016.

Some of the new features include but are not limited to the following:

  • The CMS will include a Client Dashboard that will reflect four panels: My Funds, Upcoming Form D/Blue Sky Filings, Seward & Kissel Client Alerts & Memoranda, and Client Management System Alerts.
  • The My Funds panel will allow you to view a CMS profile for each of your funds which will include general Fund Information, Offering Information, Seward & Kissel Roles, Principal and Registered Offices, Sales Compensation Recipients (if applicable), and Associated Contacts.
  • Within each fund, you may choose to Report Sales, Report Transfers, view the Blue Sky Sales Summary, and Report Fund Changes to information such as the name and address of your fund, a change of a Federal exemption claimed, etc.
  • The sales reporting component has been greatly enhanced providing much more specificity to the reporting of sales and transfers. Sales may be entered individually or by batch uploading a CMS-supplied spreadsheet.
  • The Upcoming Form D/Blue Sky Filings panel will display Federal Form D and Blue Sky filings due within the next 15 days.
  • The Client Alerts and Memoranda panel will provide links to any client alerts or other important information posted to the Firm’s website: www.sewkis.com.
  • The Client Management System Alerts panel displays a summary of any recent changes to your Fund’s profile as reported by you through the system’s Report Fund Profile Change button. Your legal assistant will be alerted to these changes as reported. This is not a substitute for informing the attorneys that you work with of these changes, but will serve as an additional safeguard.
  • A Reset your Password feature has also been added so you will have the ability to change your password at will.
  • An instructional Client Reference Guide for the CMS is posted on your Dashboard available to download.

The CMS is a cost-efficient, secure, and easy-to-use application that we expect will become a valuable business tool for our clients to rely upon and use on a daily basis.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the legal assistant assigned to your S&K Team.
