Our Litigation & Investigations Group counsels clients on their most important, complex, and sensitive matters.
We handle high‑stakes commercial and regulatory disputes as well as government and internal investigations, with a consistent focus on achieving the best possible outcome in each matter. We work closely with clients to understand their businesses in practical detail and take a coordinated, cross‑disciplinary approach that draws on the firm’s depth across practices and specialties.
Seward & Kissel lawyers have a strong record of delivering results both in and out of the courtroom. We represent public and private companies and individuals across a broad range of industries, with particular depth in financial services and shipping and maritime matters. Our financial services clients include domestic and foreign banks, investment banks, investment managers, broker‑dealers, investment funds, hedge funds, family offices, investment advisers, operating companies, senior executives, and other individuals. Our shipping and maritime clients include public and private shipping companies, marine lenders, ship operators, ship managers, and institutional investors.

Drawing on experience in both the private and public sectors, including prior service as federal and state prosecutors and regulators, we advocate forcefully for clients in federal, state, and administrative proceedings when litigation is necessary.
