Nick works with public and private companies, private investment funds, investment management firms, financial institutions, business owners and managers in connection with a variety of business transactions, financings and general corporate matters.  Representative transactions include mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and PIPEs.  His general corporate work includes the formation and organization of various business entities, including corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, drafting letters of intent, confidentiality agreements, shareholder agreements, employment and consulting agreements, service agreements and various other forms of commercial arrangements.  In addition, Nick acts as an editor for IM Deals® (a blog covering investment management industry transactions).

Representative M&A Transactions

Prior to joining Seward & Kissel, Nick worked in-house at a London-based global media company, during which time he worked on evaluating, structuring and completing acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investments and strategic alliances, and provided corporate development services and legal counsel to its news distribution, professional media, events and market research divisions.

In recommending the Seward & Kissel Business Transactions Group among the firms ranked in the middle market M&A category in 2011, the Legal 500 quoted a client who stated, “Nick Katsanos is very effective at guiding us through issues that arise and crafting potential resolutions.”

Nick received a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from New York University's Stern School of Business in 1996, and a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 1999.  Nick is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the New York City Bar Association.
